Pandit Dharmadhar Welfare Society

Pandit Dharmadhar Welfare Trust is a public, religious and charitable Trust, formed in 1991 for the social, cultural and spiritual welfare of the people(general) and Buddhist community in particular. It is named after Pandit Dharmadhar Mahasthabir (1991-2000), a reputed oriental scholar who had earned President’s Gold Medal for his contribution to Pali and Buddhist studies.

The Trust has always actively co-operated with Vidarshan Siksha Kendra and All India Federation of Bengali Buddhists in organizing religious functions on several occasions. Every year 'Dharmadhar Memorial lecture' is organized in association with All India Federation of Bengali Buddhists. The Trust intends to spread the message of true Dhamma practice by providing various humanitarian services like supplying relief materials to the distressed and needy people and by organizing Blood Donation camps. The Trust’s scholarly endeavor is manifested through the publication and reprint of various popular cultural and religious books. For smooth and effective implementation of its various objectives the Trust established a registered society under the name and style of 'Pandit Dharmadhar Welfare Society' during the year 2012 having its registration number S/IL/90117 of 2012-2013.

At present the Trust is in the process of completion its long due construction of 3/4 storied building  at its own six cottahs land located at 50 R/ 1A, Pandit Dharmadhar Sarani, Kolkata 700015. The building named as Dharmadhar Satabarshiki Bhavan (Dharmadhar Centenary Building) and is dedicated  in the memory of  Pandit Dharmadhar Mahastavir. The building will house all the academic, social, cultural and welfare activities of the Trust and  will also help the to provide accommodations to the Buddhist pilgrims from any part of the country and abroad.
