Vidarshan Shiksha Kendra

Vidarshan Siksha Kendra is a registered organization under West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. having its registration number S/18372 of 1976-77 . As the name suggests, it is primarily a meditation Centre founded by Late Ven. Prajnajyoti Mahasthavir (1919-2007) one of the great inspiration for the members of All India Federation of the Bengali Buddhists who was extending all sorts of help to conduct the activities of the Federation from the campus of the Vidarshan Siksha Kendra.

At present Ven. Buddharakkhita Mahasthabir is the present Chief Monk and Theravada Vipassana Teacher of this centre and he has been quite successful in gathering many Buddhist and non- Buddhist followers under its holy roof. Situated at 50T/1C; Pandit Dharmadhar Sarani, Kolkata- 700015, it is one of the best known holy sites in Kolkata famous for congregational prayer, group meditation and lower ordination. Besides propagating the sublime doctrines of Buddha the Kendra celebrates the Buddha Purnima by distributing fruits to the patients of nearby State General Hospital and offering sweetened water to the trespassers in the locality. Kathin Chibar Dana Ceremony i.e, Robe Offering Ceremony organized every year by Vidarshan Siksha Kendra has become immensely popular to reunite the Buddhists from all over West Bengal and other states.
